I am not vegan because it was my choice to do so. Once I learned, it was no longer a personal choice, it was simply taking action with the knowledge I was given. Knowing right from wrong. I am vegan because I do not believe that the Earth has willingly given us other beings to abuse. Other species eat other species, but I am not other species, I am a human, and I am perfectly capable of not doing so. That, my friend, is evolution. Why haven’t you evolved?
This is a highly privileged attitude and I’m really tired of it. I like the blog that I’m reblogging this from, but you can’t present veganism as the only route for decent human beings. The options aren’t “be vegan” and “torture animals in your free time.” Becoming vegan isn’t an easy thing for anyone, and it sure as fuck isn’t possible for many because of health or financial situations.
Basically: You can definitely be vegan, and you can definitely explain why being vegan is a good thing for you and your life. But once you start shaming other people for not conforming to your privileged lifestyle, you’ve crossed the line.
