Generally speaking, it’s your body to do with what you wish. If people, especially women, are getting cosmetic surgery because they feel like they aren’t good enough, that’s problematic. Nobody should have to go under the knife to feel beautiful.
That being said, I’m not going to condemn women who get cosmetic plastic surgery for less than perfect reasons. Rather, I critique the societal expectations that drive them to make those decisions. You can’t run around telling women that they’re too fat, too flat-chested, too long-nosed, too whatever-the-hell-else, and then get mad at them for taking extreme measures to change themselves. The media tells us we’re not enough in our natural state, so many of us spend lots of time and money trying to “fix” ourselves when we don’t need it. We’ve gotta stop sending those messages in the first place.
